| Physical Description | Kim's skins is pale, a feature common of humans with red hair. Though her face is largely freckle-free there’s a small spray of them on her cheeks as well as freckles along her shoulders and arms. She’s been known to joke that she’s mapped them out and named all of the constellations just like any good traveler of the stars. Kim's hair is shoulder length with thick bangs that end just below her eyebrows. She's an average build with an hour glass figure that could be described as curvy. |

| Hobbies & Interests | Kim is an avid outdoors person when she can be. Hiking and exploring are favorites. If she could have a garden of her own she would and she has a strong interest in the medicinal properties of plants. When she is relaxing Kim likes a good glass of wine, comfortable clothes, and a trashy romance novel. If she has the opportunity she enjoys dabbling in cooking, but is in no way adept at it. Kim has a huge sweet tooth and is equal opportunity interested in just about any sugary foods. She does have a particular fondness for chocolate. As can sometimes be true of many doctors, Kim is “on” a lot. She has a predilection for black coffee which she always seems to have a fresh cup of. If you are seeing her first thing in the morning it is always best to arrive first with an offering of coffee to get her going. |
| Personal History | Kimberly Heather Standish was born to Margaret and Henry Standish on September 5th 2243. The Standishes are second generation colonists of the Ceres 1 Colony that had been founded on the dwarf planetoid in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter of the same name. Two years later twin boys, William and Matthew, joined the family. The colony is in phase two of a four phase terraforming project with an available arable space with a breathable atmosphere that spans across only an eighth of the total planetoid’s land mass. Weather controlling technology maintains the array of force fields and atmospheric generating systems that make it possible for humans to breathe within this sphere. Inside the arable zone the majority of colonists are ecologists, agricultural specialists, botanists, etc. Margaret Standish is part of the core scientific team focused on biological diversity and propagation of new ecological systems. Henry Standish manages a team of technicians who are responsible for the upkeep of the weather array. As a child with parents working in both technology and science Heather was exposed to a range of interests. She was particularly fond of trailing behind her father as he and his team of technicians made repairs and held a fascination with what would happen to a person if any of the myriad of systems that kept the colony running were to fail. Her mother encouraged this interest and, as a teenager, she shadowed one of the community’s medical practitioners. Her role was almost entirely running errands, stocking supplies, and the like, but she got a front row seat to understanding tools and systems used to treat everything from small cuts to complicated pregnancies. When she was old enough Kim enlisted in Starfleet with a goal of making it to Starfleet Medical. Her parents encouraged their daughter’s decision with hopes that after she had served her minimum tour in Starfleet she would return to Ceres and bring with her the medical expertise she had acquired. Doctors in a colony are always in high demand and they were thrilled that their daughter might be among that number. The Academy was an eye-opening experience for Kim. Though it wasn’t true that everyone on Ceres was human, the majority of the colonists were. Meeting so many different species immediately enthralled her and she was known to ask almost obnoxious volumes of questions to anyone of a different species that would allow it. Her interest grew and when she entered Starfleet Medical she focused in xenobiology. Kim has served on two ships prior to the Proxima, each with growing responsibilities. After her tour on the Keats she decided to continue with Starfleet as a career. By this point her family back on Ceres had anticipated her decision and come to terms with it. They are now very supportive of their daughter and sister. The Proxima is Kim’s first posting as the Chief Medical Officer. |
