IN THE 23RD CENTURY.....

Klingon raiders, Orion pirates and Gorn hunters have been problems along the Neutral Zone and the Federation's Rim for decades, but a fragile political balance has held fast since the 2260's. The Federation maintains peace and authority on its side of the Neutral Zone with a chain of deep space stations.
Deep Space Station Lambda-2 is one such outpost. It lies precariously close to Klingon space between Donatu and Arcanis Sectors. The Starship Proxima is part of Starfleet's first line of defense there. Recently refitted, the Proxima boasts the most advanced layout of the venerable Constitution-class starships to date.
Genesis
Project Genesis and its fallout has dramatically altered- by some reckoning, destroyed- any semblance of the status quo. The Klingons are sure its a weapon. Various criminal syndicates want to steal the technology. Some Federation worlds are uncomfortable with the idea.
Klingon raiders- often from Houses D'Ghor, Kor and Duras- have begun brazenly violating the Neutral Zone to harass shipping and test Federation mettle. There is even concern that Romulan agents could be attempting to pit the Klingons and Federation against one another. The Hegemony remains enigmatic to their neighbors and care little about this "world-making," but sense an opportunity to restock the larders of their hunting ships and hatchery worlds.

[Main Bridge]
[USS Proxima]
[1400 Hours]
Six hours was a long time to sit behind a moon.
Mac hadn't sat, mostly. He'd stood at the back of the bridge with his arms folded, or stood near the viewscreen, or stood at the engineering console for a while talking to Jalen about nothing in particular until he'd run out of things to say. He'd drunk two cups of the terrible coffee. He was considering a third.
The Proxima sat tucked in close against Verex IV-A, nestled in the moon's magnetic shadow where the interference would scatter their sensor profile into background…

[Verex III] [Slave Souk, Walled City of Verex]
The Vulcan was already in mid-stride, his hands clasped behind his back, "Our Quartermaster department has provided us with the identicards and background references for traders among the Interstellar Trade Alliance. Memorize your aliases." Kirak began as the group paced around a modified shuttle. It had been distressed and some of its panels replaced to make it look like an older, civilian model. "The transponder codes of this shuttle had been altered to show it was a Nyberrite purchase some ten years ago. The transponder and owner rights are included in your…

Mission: Regula Gambit

The doors to Sickbay hissed open as Mac stepped through, still wearing his parka from the away mission. He'd left Kirak on the bridge to coordinate with Lieutenant West on maintaining their position relative to Regula One's deteriorating orbit. The subspace shockwaves were getting worse, but they couldn't leave yet—not without answers.
Lieutenant Alijas Dyrgen lay on the primary biobed, oxygen mask still in place, while Doctor Standish moved between him and her medical console with practiced efficiency. The Zami communications officer looked better than he had when they'd pulled him from that storage locker, but not by much. His…

Mission: Regula Gambit

The tall Denobulan moved with an almost choreographed precision behind the curved bar of Proxima’s lounge. Every motion was practiced; efficient, but never rushed, hands gliding over polished surfaces and neatly arranged bottles as though he were conducting an orchestra only he could hear.
Any minute now, the tidal wave of off-duty crew would come pouring through the doors, eager to decompress, to gossip, to forget the demands of the day. Dazl welcomed that chaos. He thrived in it. Years of experience had honed him into something of a miracle-worker behind a bar: part mixologist, part counselor, part traffic controller.…

[Briefing Room]
[USS Proxima]
[0800 Hours]
The Proxima's briefing room felt quieter than the bridge, but no less tense. The senior staff had arranged themselves around the table, Kirak at Mac's right, Standish across from him, Beckett near the door with his usual economy of presence, West with a PADD already in hand, Hlath at the far end with his long fingers folded neatly on the table, Jet leaning back with the particular ease of a man who'd been awake since 0400 and had made his peace with it, and Saenar looking slightly more alert than a man with his…

Commander's Log... Stardate 8233.4.
Shuttlecraft Toliman is en route to Deep Space Station Lambda-2 near the Klingon planet Krios Prime. I have left Federation space and am traveling along non-aligned shipping lanes- the Ardana-Valt Trade Corridor. Ardanan authorities sent Starfleet a code yellow notice of Klingon raiding activities in the area over the last month. I am monitoring an Orion hauling craft on a parallel course bearing 251 mark 011.
I have been reassigned from the U.S.S. Ibn Battuta to the U.S.S. Proxima as First Officer and Chief Navigator. My databanks confirms The Proxima is one of the remaining Constitution-class…
